Castor oil is widely used in various industrial applications such as textile chemicals, pharmaceuticals, paper, fertilizers, grease, perfumes, cosmetics, paints, electronics and many other applications. India is the largest producer of castor seeds producing about 65% of world's production. The major contribution comes from the states of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Among them, Gujarat which contributes to 86% of the total castor seeds produced in the country. About Castor

India is the largest producer of Castor Seeds. Brazil & China complement the balance world production. India accounts 75.6% of the world production from which 85.6% contribution comes from the State Gujarat. Banaskantha & Mehsana are the largest castor producing district of the Gujarat. Rajasthan & Andhra Pradesh are the other major castor growing in India. Grown under tropical condition, castor is planted between July or August and is harvested around December or January. The speed pods are then dried, de-podded and brought to the market yards for trading. Indian Castor has an Oil content of 48% of which 42% can be extracted while the cake retain the rest.
